Let's recap the last 5 months shall we?
September 17th-Mike gets home from a year in Iraq
October 3rd-we leave for a week in Vegas. During the week I had some symptoms and highly suspected I was pregnant but I didn't want to either get my hopes up and be disappointed by a negative test or have to try hiding taking a test from his dad since we were staying with him for the week.
October 10th-We get home and I tested a couple hours later once I had to pee (for the 100th time that day). It came up positive pretty quickly and I proceeded to crap my pants in the bathroom. I had no idea how Mike would react and while we weren't planning on it happening that soon, we weren't preventing either. In the couple weeks that he'd been home, we found out we'd be moving to Virginia in June. About the time I heard that, I said to myself "well I sure hope I'm not pregnant because I'd be due smack dab in the middle of June" but I knew we'd work it out if push came to shove. We had friends at our house when I tested so I couldn't immediately come out and tell him. I paced around the house for awhile, trying to do anything I could to distract myself from what I was thinking. He knew I was expecting my period that day so when he went into the kitchen to get a drink, I went out to catch him alone and he said "Did Aunt Flo come yet?" I said "ummm, no" and he said "Did you pee on a stick yet?" And I said "yeah...." and he said "Are you?" And I said "yep..." His reaction? "Well high five for super sperm!" hahahaha And we literally high fived! It was funny. He reassured me everything would be fine and we'd work out moving and all that once it got a little closer.
October 11th-I woke up around 4:30 and I couldn't sleep. Eventually, I went to Walmart to get a few things, including another test just to make sure and some picture frames for the grandparents. We wrapped them up and gave them to them to share the news. We left around 6 that evening and got into NY around 6 the next morning. His mom was the first to learn the news since she was our first stop. She was ecstatic and even thanked Mike. Yeah, it was a little awkward. My mom was excited too. I thought she was gonna knock me over with her excitement. My dad was also excited and just started laughing when he saw the frame (it said "I love Grandpa" and in it I came up with some cheesy poem about expecting a baby in June).
October 16th-I shared the news via Facebook. Everyone was excited for us.
October 26th-First (and only!) trip to the ER. I almost passed out twice that day. Diagnosis? "Pregnancy & dehydration" Left with two very bruised arms but feeling much better. Thanks, Naval.
November 20th-First ultrasound and paperwork appointment at Naval. One little bean measuring perfectly at 10 weeks. Heartbeat was 175 and I could tell it was fast just by looking at it. He was also moving a ton on the ultrasound.
November 24th-First real appointment w/ a midwife. Did the lovely physical and the "fun" stuff then went over my paperwork. He diagnosed me as "complicated" which meant I'd be seeing an actual OB as opposed to the midwives until otherwise determined that all was well with baby. Heartbeat was 166.
December 7th-Appointment w/ Dr. Wright for an NT scan. All looks good w/ the baby. I didn't ask what his heart rate was and he didn't tell me.
December 15th-First appointment w/ OB. He was an idiot. Referred me to a neurologist to make sure I wouldn't "strain" anything when pushing. Appt. w/ Neuro went fine, he basically said that Dr. was an idiot but not in so many words.
January 13th-Appt. @ Naval. Everything went fine other than he was an hour late and my appt. was at 9:50 which I was pretty disgusted with as was Mike.
February 1st-Level II Ultrasound w/ Dr. Wright. We found out we're having a boy, which I already knew and Mike was hoping for. He looked "perfect" and "beautiful" (Doctor's words) I immediately fell in love. It's amazing how knowing what you're having makes it all seem more real. And knowing he's 100% healthy makes life much less stressful for the remainder of the pregnancy. We decided on the name Preston William and got mostly good feedback on it. Only one or two people were "eh" about it, everyone else LOVES it.
As for the rest of the fun stuff...
--I didn't have a ton of morning sickness, pretty much the same nausea I had last time where if I didn't eat often enough I'd be incredibly nauseous. Sometimes I didn't feel well at night after eating.
--I felt what I'm pretty sure was the baby around 14 1/2 weeks. Nothing that I could say was for sure though until around 17 weeks. Then it was just random little pokes here and there. Within the last couple weeks I feel him a lot more often, mostly in the morning when I wake up and at night. I'm fully expecting a night owl once he's here.
I can't think of anything else right now. I go back to the doctor on Wednesday and I've heard this one is a real bitch. I'm hoping they'll send me back to the midwives.
